Okay, let’s talk hair wash schedules. Not the most glamorous part of wedding prep, but so important.
If you’ve ever heard someone say “don’t wash your hair before your wedding because dirty hair holds better,” I’m here to gently tell you that’s not always true. I know it used to be the go-to advice, but with the way bridal hair is done these days (and the products I use), clean hair is actually the better starting point for most styles.
Unless you and I have made a special plan for you to come with damp hair, like if we’re doing a blowout or something sleek, the best thing you can do is wash your hair either the night before or the morning of the wedding. Then come with clean, dry hair.
Here’s why that matters:
When your hair is clean, I can give it the right kind of texture, volume, and hold using my products. These are products I know and trust to work beautifully for wedding styles. But when there’s leftover dry shampoo, oil, or product from the past couple of days, your hair doesn’t always want to cooperate. And no one wants curls that fall flat or styles that don’t hold.
Think of it like showing up for your makeup with yesterday’s mascara still on. Not ideal, right?
So unless we’ve talked and made a plan for something different, clean and dry is the way to go. You don’t need to use anything fancy or overload it with product. Just a simple wash and a full dry before you come in. I’ll take it from there.
We’re creating something beautiful together, and starting with a fresh canvas makes all the difference.
